Upon reading the first words of the first chapter of the first book in this series, a strange sensation overtook my being and held me tightly in its grasp forcing me to neglect previously planned household duties, meals, and other daily tasks. I was never in pain but existed in a seperate Nano world as I passively observed my real earthly world continuing without my participation. Nanomights hijacked my entire being and occupied all brain activity. Food didnt hold any appeal and became a tasteless necessity. Something snapped the minute I finished the last page of Book 2 and I seem to be my normal self again, slowly coming back to reality like closed eyes opening into bright sunlight. These Nanomights ARE mighty. But dont worry, their power lies in the ability to bestow hours of reading pleasure. I can't wait for book 3 !
I once heard someone say the middle book in a trilogy is just there as filler material between the first and last book...I am here to say that for once that is NOT TRUE in this case! This was just as exciting and well written as the one before and after! Wow! So glad for a great, clean sci-fi read!!!I love the weaving of the plot!!! I also loved that the author brought more Christain content in this and the next book than the first one...I love the excitement in the third book....definitely hoping for more books in this book universe!!!!!!Makes me laugh and clap with glee to think of what could happen in the storyline if/when Vikki writes another one after Stealth Retribution!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reluctantly began reading Vikki Kestell's first book in this series, 'Stealthy Steps' and by the end of that book, I was hooked. Science fiction is not my usual genre, but this series goes well beyond typical science fiction. The characters are well crafted and believable, the story line 'almost' not science fiction. The book moves right along and I found myself being pulled into the story. I actually cared about Gemma, Dr. Bickle, and all the little nanomites. The tale is loaded with action, intrigue, drama, pathos, humor, and romance. AND, besides all that, it has a strong Christian message as well. I have already pre-ordered the third book in the series and can't wait for its release date. Take a chance - you won't regret it.
Once again, Vikki Kestell puts the science back in science fiction. Though nanotechnology is taken into more speculative applications in Stealth Power, this is still the kind of science fiction I grew up with and love -- scientific developments that actually could happen, not pure fantasy. The heroine, Gemma Keyes, grows over the course of the story and takes the reader along on her journey in a fairly deep, first-person, POV. If you read Stealthy Steps, you must read Stealth Power and cheer Gemma on her journey toward her destiny. Though framed in a Christian worldview, the story isn't preachy. Readers of science fiction who do not consider themselves Christians will thoroughly enjoy the story.
I received the first book free from Bookbub. So thankful that I didn't overlook it! I receive so many free books from Bookbub that I rarely follow up on a series since I have hundreds more loaded on my Kindle. This was the proverbial " I couldn't put it down". Within seconds of finishing the first I was on Amazon to buy then next two. I was very disheartened to finish the third and have no more. So much so that I immediately emailed the author to request more! There was a hint of more coming from her, though she stated there were four books ahead of it. I am waiting on the edge of my seat, I cannot wait to continue this series! There is something for just about every facet of my interests...Sci-Fi, thriller, drama, adventure, action. Factual science based sci-fi is awesome! Also spiritual truth that brings to life repentance, and witnessing. I couldn't recommend any higher!
I thought this was a terrific, well written , page turner. Frankly, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.. however, I could not give it 5 stars. I very often love the juxtaposition of science and religion, but it misses the mark, here. The rest of the story is so smooth, so hot... then the preachiness of religion intruded. I am not at all saying that religion had no place in the story. Far from it, as it's part of the personality of a few characters. What I am saying is that the author should have expanded her reach into the sublime. Into universal truths. I think she did herself a disservice by reiterating the dogma of a small slice of a certain faith when she could have pushed it into a more profound universality and still ended up with the same results in her characters. The tone of preachiness pulled me out of the story and made me doubt -- just at the time the author wanted me to believe. Some things must be tread lightly.
I loved this book! I would recommend reading Stealthy Steps before reading Stealth Power for a better understanding.I love the growth and interaction between Gemma and the nanomites. I loved the growth of Gemma, from a scared wallflower to a bold, courageous, compassionate person.I loved the suspense, the political intrigue, the confrontation of good vs. evil, with good winning.I loved the Christian message in this book. I don't believe it was preachy. It presented the gospel in a powerful way. I loved this quote: "Every time I thought I'd arrived at a place in my life where I could at long last wash my hands of God, some unexpected and out-of-my control crisis sprang up--something I had no solution for. So, yeah, I had this perverse inclination to pray."I loved Gemma's spiritual growth. I immediately read Stealth Retribution to find out what would happen next.
I loved book one in this series but I love book two even more. Both books have enough suspense and excitement to keep you glued to the story and turning pages as quickly as possible. Others will write about the storyline so I will omit that and just say that these books are MUST READ!!! If you love sci-fi you will love these. If you don't like sci-fi you will still love these books because they are so much MORE than sci-fi!
