I wanted to find a good big sibling book for our daughter, but I had a really hard time finding any that I liked enough to buy. Most had terrible artwork. Many focus on how boring babies are or how it stinks to get less attention. Many were so focused on teaching a lesson that they do nothing to engage the child.This one, however, was perfect. The artwork is simple and appealing. And, the book focuses on the thoughts and emotions of the child who is waiting for their brother or sister to arrive. The big sister talks about her concern for the baby ("is it dark in there?"), singing to the baby, feeling connected to the baby, and enthusiasm for meeting the baby and sharing her favorite things. And, the flaps that reveal the slowly growing baby on each page are just an added bonus that keep my daughter even more engaged.

This is an adorable book for an older sibling. My daughter was 7 and the majority of the big sister books I could find were for children of a much younger age. She loves reading this and so did I. Definitely suitable for a 7 year old or even older. Very cute.

My 2.5 year old loves this book and so do I. Unlike a lot of other sibling prep books, it doesn't get into anything beyond the pregnancy, and totally focuses on the sibling relationship prior to the baby's birth. It encourages my kid to think of the baby as a little person, who can and will interact with the world.

This book is adorable. I'm pregnant with my 2nd daughter currently and I wanted to get something special for my 7 year old daughter. She loves this book. We read it at least once a week (we rotate through many books), but she gets more and more excited about her baby sister every time we read it. Would recommend this book for anyone that has a girl that will soon be a big sister. Shipping was right on time, packaged well. Quality of the book is great.

My 4.5yo loves this book! It's great that it is interactive, which keeps her engaged. The illuatrations are simple, but interesting. The images help to open up discussions about how the baby gets bigger as mommy's belly gets bigger, things she can do while the baby is still in there and things they will do together once the baby comea. My favorite page is when the big belly diasappears; it has helped us to explain that mommy and daddy will have to go to the hospital to see the doctor and have the baby, but on the next page we're back and you get to meet your sibling! We read it multiple times a day, she brings it to me over and over again to read. We have a ton of big sister/new baby books and this is by far her favorite.

This is a beautifully illustrated and sweet book. A friend recommended it for my 2 year old since she will be a big sister in a few months, and she really enjoys opening the flaps to "find the baby." It doesn't really cover anything about what having a baby in the house will be like, or address the parent/child relationship during this transformative time, so for that I have a few other books in mind. But this is a good gentle primer on the concept of waiting for a baby, and the pictures and flaps are engaging for my toddler. All in all, a good find.

We are expecting our second baby, and our toddler is pretty much in denial about the whole situation. If fact she responded “No thank you,” when told she was going to be big sister. We bought a whole bunch of big sister/baby sibling is coming books, but this one was the only one that she responded to. It’s very sweet, simple, and has flip panels. My toddler has a long way to go but we read this every night and it defiantly seems to be helping her come to terms.

I have a 3 year old daughter and we are currently expecting again in 4.5 months. I bought this book, along with two others, for my daughter and she absolutely LOVES this book. She has read it dozens of times and loves opening the little flap to see the cute little baby in the mommy's belly. It's a very cute book where the big sister explains all of the things she will do with the baby once he/she comes. She will share strawberries and cupcakes (her favorite) and take the baby swimming, etc. My daughter is now very excited to share and do those things as well.

About the Author

Professor Noam Eliaz is a full professor, Director of the Biomaterials and Corrosion Laboratory, and the founder of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at TAU. He earned a BSc degree in Materials Engineering, an MBA degree, and a PhD degree (direct track) in Materials Engineering, all cum laude from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Prior to joining TAU, he was a Fulbright and Rothschild Fellow at MIT. His research is interdisciplinary and includes electrodeposition of calcium phosphate coatings for implants, electrodeposition of special alloys for high-temperature applications, corrosion, and failure analysis. From 2005 to 2017 he was the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Corrosion Reviews, and currently he is an editorial board member of this journal as well as of Current Topics in Electrochemistry, Corrosion, and Materials Degradation, and Bioceramics Development and Applications. He is an elected member of The Israel Young Academy and was appointed to the Governing Board of The German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development (GIF). He has won numerous awards, including NACE International's Herbert H. Uhlig Award (2010), Fellow Award (2012), and Technical Achievement Award (2014), as well as Fellow of The Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (2005?2007) and the T.P. Hoar Award (2003). My daughter is 5 (almost 6) and has Tourette Syndrome. I bought this book for her classroom for when she started school in a few months. I decided to read it to her and her 3 year old brother when he started becoming irritated with her tics. While the book is very informative, it was not for us. It upset my daughter because talking about tics made her have to tic. It also seemed to introduce concepts that she had never thought of before. I tried to skip over them, but realized it was throughout the whole book. Things like "I'm not weird" "please don't make fun of me", etc. While I know why they are put in there, for the younger kids that haven't experienced this, it introduces a whole new set of things to be scared of before starting school. She never thought she was weird, and no one has made fun of her, so putting that in her head wouldn't help the anxiety she is feeling about going to class. It also stated that tics don't hurt, when some of my daughter's tics do hurt her, whether it is from muscle pain (whiplash tic) or her distonic tics than can be painful. I think it is a great book, but I also think it is more suited for slightly older children than mine. Since every case of Tourette's is different, it is hard to find a book that fits individual needs. I will continue looking for a book that we can hopefully share with her class.

I cannot say enough positive about this book on Tourette syndrome. My son has Tourette’s syndrome and has been experiencing some issues at his school with peers. I bought this book for him to read at home but ended up taking it to his school and reading it to his fourth grade class. After I read this book, the children responded wonderfully and sincerely empathized and changed their behaviors toward my son . Education is key, and this is the perfect book to educate children and adults, including Educators!!!

I purchased this book to use during a lesson on Tourette Syndrome I was teaching to first graders, to help them understand the condition one of their classmates has. It was an excellent adjunct to my lesson. I did skip the page regarding medication since this child's family has not chosen that for him at this point. Otherwise the book is very helpful and child friendly as are many of the books in the "Special Kids in School" series (by various authors). One note for anyone introducing this book and attempting to talk about tics with this age group, some of the children may decide that they have Tourette's since some in my audience who have or have had transient tics felt so comfortable with the idea of Tourette Syndrome, they insisted they also have it. It was interesting trying to describe diagnostic differences to six year olds! That said, I was very happy to be able to use this book.

The information was fine. My major concern was the fact that I had to remove the binding staples and put the book together in the correct order. As I am sure this was not assembled by hand, others will have the same problem.When one purchases a book, they expect it to be in the correct order. Makes the story hard to follow when it’s not. 😏 thank goodness it wasn’t a super long book!

I like this book a lot; it is one of the better ones in the series. All of the books in the series have Teacher Tips and resources as well as a quiz, these are always helpful. The text is simple and easy for kids to understand. I worked with a student who had Tourettes and we read this to his second grade class. It was easy for them to understand and generated some good questions. It gave his classmates a nice idea of what he dealt with each day and how hard it might be for him.

A student of mine who has Tourette Syndrome sent this book into school. We read it to the class. It was very clear and helpful. I then ordered two copies- one for the classroom and one for home.

My son was having problems at the beginning of his 1st grade year, becuase of his tics & Tourettes. The kids didn't understand him and were making fun of him. I brought this book in and read it to the class, and it was great. They got to ask questions and they had tons!! I highly recommend this book!!!

Great Slow Cooker Cookbook!!! If you don't mind doing a little prep work in order to have your dish turn out a star, this book is for you. I don't mind browning chicken (such as for the chicken and dumplings) or sauteing onions, etc. before adding them to my slow cooker. So what if the dish starts out in another pan and ends in the slow cooker? To me, it's a pan worth dirtying and the results are well worth the extra effort.However, if you want a cookbook where all you do is dump 5 ingredients (one being a can of condensed soup) into the slow cooker and having something nominally edible at the end of the day, there are other books that would be better suited for you. This cookbook is for those willing to take the extra step or two to have a great meal to come home to at the end of the day; if that's you, definitely add this to your cookbook library. I am so glad I did.Oh, and a major beef I have with most of the ATK cookbooks is the lack of photographs. Not so with this book. There are tons of enticing photos to make anyone's mouth water. Awesome and brilliant! Yummy!

Wow! Great! I depend on Slow Cooker Cookbook for the best recipes and product reviews. This slow cooker cookbook is thoroughly researched, and I'm sure that all the recipes are delicious when followed exactly. Despite criticism from other reviewers, I don't mind the "extra steps" that these recipes call for--I want the best-tasting dishes possible. That said, I cook for 2 people, and all of these recipes use a 6.5 qt. slow cooker--great if you want to freeze leftovers, but not so good when you want a simple dish for 2 (like Overnight Oatmeal). Amazing book! Nice one! Well done :)

Well done author! Yummy! Very impressed with the recipes in this cookbook! My husband and I are both professionals, and we have three kids -- two in high school, one in second grade, with all sports/music lessons/etc. in the afternoons and evenings, so we are so busy! I need something hot and nutritious to feed the kids when they get home with the babysitter, and the slow cooker fits the bill! So far, the recipes I've tried have been great -- chili, lasagna, beef stew, meatball sauce, and huli huli chicken (completely devoured by the kids). The ziti was a bit mushy (since we left it in there all day), so don't recommend that unless you can take it out in 3 hours. I've also adopted a number of Asian dishes to use in the crockpot, such as curries and Korean chicken stew. I usually prepare the night before, and refrigerate. Then pop it in the crockpot, and it is done by the time the kids get home, accompanied by rice from the rice cooker. So easy and delicious! This book and the crockpot are a lifesaver for a working mom! Really a good book is here! Love it!

Nice one! We are about 8 recipes in and so far everyone has been a winner. As others have stated, this is not just a "toss the ingredients in and go" sort of cookbook. But the meals don't taste that way, either. All require a bit more prep than traditional crock pot recipes. Somewhat excessive on the bean and meat recipes for our family, but so far we have been finding enough to choose from. Its great to come home from work and have a delicious meal waiting! Great book! Lovely!

Wow! Look at it! Amazing! This lady is the real deal. She writes about intermittent fasting as both an advocate and a practitioner. Her research is current and authoritative. She explains the theory and practice of fasting for weight control and covers the different approaches in some detail. Interwoven is her personal narrative, describing her experiences in using different approaches to fasting. She's very clear about her preferences for a limited daily eating window. It works for her, but she encourages the reader to experiment and find what is personally most effective.The annotated bibliography she includes is worth the price of admission. She gives a brief description of each volume, and explains its importance in her weight loss saga. Articles are documented with links in the text for easy access. Well done!Throughout the book her tone is light and even breezy. She writes as if engaged in casual conversation with the reader. Never taking herself too seriously, but never neglecting the seriousness of her subject. As a result this is a book I find myself going back to again and again. It's both a resource and an inspiration, one of the sanest and most useful fasting books in my library. Great book! Slow Cooker Cookbook is the best!

There is no way the rest of the 5 star reviews on this item are from real buyers. This has to be the most poorly written book I've ever read. It's hard to imagine that it would even be published in the condition its in. It is literally as if someone from a foreign country came to the United States and just started typing words on paper. Examples: Prep is spelled "Perp" hundreds of times throughout the book.Not only are the words incorrectly spelled, but it is equally difficult to understand many of the sentences. I found myself reading sentences more than once to try to make sense out of them. Total waste of time and money!This one is going back!!!

It’s like this book was written in a foreign language and translated into English by google translator and not reviewed. In most cases the instructions make no sense and wording is very odd. The table of contents is incorrect. A lot of the recipes aren’t even crockpot recipes. See photo example. Not a crockpot recipe. Step 6 is literally ‘instructions.’ It cuts off before it even tells you to add the Shrimp to the pan. I had high hopes after reading all the five stars reviews that this book would change my life. Its going straight to the donation pile. Very disappointing.

In 2006, Ford brought in Alan Mulally to help rescue Ford Motor Company from itself. Mulally’s first task was to change Ford’s management style from “every man for himself” to “every man for Ford”. Ford management’s transition from hiding problems (so you didn’t get fired) to acknowledging problems (so you could fix them) could only happen as the braver managers took the leap of faith that Mulally wouldn’t fire them for admitting the serious problems that existed within their own areas of responsibility. Reading about that process was interesting on its own; but, as I was reading, I was also thinking “these guys don’t yet know that the Great Recession is coming”. That event took the drama of Ford’s attempts to survive its past missteps to a whole new level. Wonderful, interesting and exciting book about Alan Mulally, Ford Motor Company, the auto industry and corporate America.

Growing up in the Detroit area I've seen Ford both at their best and their worst. Their incredible transformation over the last decade was nothing short of incredible. This reads more like an intrigue novel than a history lesson and really holds your attention. This, combined with Once Upon a Car and Taken for a Drive are some of the best auto industry books I've ever read.

I have to confess that this book was a complete stunner. I purchased it hoping to get a decent idea of what Ford went through during the economic crisis of 2006-2009, but this book proved to be a detailed, engrossing story that I could barely put down. Anyone who follows the news is well aware of the debacle that was the US auto industry in 2007, but Hoffman provides such depth in describing the issues facing the industry and the corporate in-fighting that it almost reads like fiction.You are instantly endeared to Bill Ford as a man that can put aside his own ego for the good of the company he loves, and you root for Alan Mullaly throughout the book even though we already know Ford made it through to the other side. His belief in his system and his ability to completely change the corporate culture of a multi-national company are truly inspiring.Outside the story itself, there are all sorts of interesting factoids to be found such as how the common stock was set up to ensure the Ford family maintained voting rights, and how neither Chrysler or General Motors would've survived if President Obama had stuck to President Bush's original requirements. The book delivers on so many different levels. I highly recommend to anyone with an interest in business or just an interest in a great story.

Author Bryce Hoffman details the incredible American comeback story of Ford Motor Company. His focus is largely on Alan Mulally, whom Ford hired away from Boeing in September 2006 to take over as their New CEO. Hoffman chronicles the events leading to Bill Ford's decision to step down as CEO and go outside the company and the auto industry to hire Mulally.The author describes the changes Mulally made to Ford's corporate culture as well as the approach he took to changing the mentality and necessity to work together for the survival and future of the company. Hoffman narrates the risks the company had to take to be able to keep it running. I especially relished the narrative of the three auto industry CROw's appearance before the Congressional and Senate hearings on the fall of 2008, when General Motors and Chrysler were asking for a federal bailout to keep those two automakers alive.Hoffman takes the reader into 2011 at a time when Ford was back in the black and on much stronger ground. He gives Mulally much of the credit for this amazing turnaround, but also praised Bill Ford and the other heirs of Henry Ford. Hoffman gives credit to many others within Ford for their courage and contributions to the comeback. This was the most interesting and enlightening books I've read about the American auto industry.

I'm enjoying reading about Alan Mulally.CEOs, CFO's, COOs, mid-level managers and especially consultants--there's something for everyone in this book.Some of my favorite points:1. Bill Ford was humble and willing to step away and letting someone else take over. He was great in keeping the family unified during thick and thin.2. What can we say about Mulally that hasn't been written elsewhere? I loved reading about the BPR process and his One-Ford strategy. He didn't just clean house either. He made a change here and there. A couple leaders left on their own. A couple were elevated. There's much we can learn about Mulally's leadership style.3. The bailouts - I found myself getting frustrated as I re-lived the bailouts of GM and Chrysler. Ford was at a complete disadvantage once the government took control of GM. Yet, Ford stuck to their plan.4. And speaking of that recession, it's as though Mulally had to navigate not one, but two turnarounds.That one and their serious issues when he first came on board in 2006.5. We know the rest of the story. Mark Fields is now the new CEO. Mulally embraced his abilities from day one. So this has a great ending. The fire didn't go out through a changing of the guard.I'm still amazed at how one person could change a leviathan in a stodgy industry. Sure, he built a team and had the full support of the Chairman. But this guy was/is unreal.I thought Gordon Bethune was legendary. I think Mulally's accomplishments are even more impressive since he turned around Boeing too.I also recommend the Audible version too as I listened to it while reading the Kindle version.
