Not the 3rd Edition. This copy has chapters out of order, missing chapters, chapters that are included in this one, but not in the real one, problems have different values in them making doing homework difficult. you name it, its wrong!There is a pdf available online for free if you just search the title, its the first or second link that pops up. Its nice to have a hard copy, but at least use the pdf to verify that what you are reading/doing for homework is correct.

This is a print for developing countries. My copy says it's not even legally aloud to be sold outside of Bangladesh. They put a sticker on the back of the book to cover over this message.The pages are printed in very low quality, some pages are blurry and hard to read. The paper feels very low quality. Some of the pages were folded and not cut evenly so when unfolded there was paper sticking out almost a cm past the rest of the pages.Awful quality. And no mention that it was not an original print.

Book arrived in perfect condition, but the presentation of information was just okay. To be fair, the subject matter is complex, however, I've had a multitude of other courses with highly complex subject matter where the text presented the material in a more coherent fashion. I won't be keeping this as a reference text.

School book

In addition to the third chapter, which is in the US edition only, the last four chapters a see also missing from this print. They appear on the Wiley website instead. I wish the seller would have mentioned about it.

Hate this book. Spent many hours reading this thing.

Her mother was Perse, a sea nymph who was the granddaughter of the Titan Oceanos.We mainly know of Circe from the Odyssey and her interactions with Odysseus. She was known as a sorceress who lived on an island and turned men into pigs. We know from the Odyssey that Circe was often seen working at a huge loom surrounded by dangerous animals such as wolves and lions, yet they were all under her control. We also know from the Odyssey that Odysseus - by virtue of his wiles - not only avoids Circe’s sorcery but beds her as well. When he leaves she gives him advice on how to survive the perils on his seaward journey home to his homeland of Ithaca, such as Scylla and Charybdis, so he can reunite with his beloved wife Penelope and son Telemachus.So why did I like this book so much? Well, stand back, because I’m about to gush.I am a big fan of Greek mythology, and I was a big fan of this author’s previous book, The Song of Achilles. Yet this one was even better.Circe was not a major figure in the Odyssey; in fact when I first opened the book I realized I got her mixed up with Calypso. But I won’t make that mistake anymore. This minor character has now become my favorite character of all thanks to this author’s brilliant work.Because this book is told from Circe’s point of view, we get to intimately know her - not just her history and story but her thoughts as well. The reason this is so important is because we come to empathize with Circe. We tend to think of the Greek Gods as so fickle and often cruel - and indeed they are often depicted that way - yet with Circe, we meet a goddess who is so human and so very, very likable.The reason I made the “no spoilers” comment at the start, is because Circe’s experiences include her meeting and interacting with various other figures from Greek myth, and it’s a big part of the enjoyment of this novel to experience it the way the author intended, without knowing what is going to happen next.I took a few days to read this book but that was not because it was a slow read. We see it time after time, but the usual reimagining places the characters and plot in a contemporary setting as the story plays out. With Circe, Madeline Miller kept the characters and the setting, and instead shifted the focus, placing it solely on Circe. Those of you with a background in mythology will see many, many elements from classic Greek mythology (especially The Odyssey) popping up in this book. However, if you’ve lived under a rock and never even knew there was such a thing as mythology it won’t matter. Miller gives you everything you need to know and she does it seamlessly.A Woman with Attitude – If you’re anything like me, you will come to adore Circe, the book and the woman. Born into one of the two most powerful families of gods, Circe adored her father, Helios, but never quite measured up. Where her siblings were gorgeous and powerful from an early age, Circe was plain and seemingly powerless. Tormented by her own family, Circe grew more and more fascinated with mortals. Falling in love with one, brought out her previously unknown powers of witchcraft.“I was too wild to feel shame. It was true. I would not just uproot the world, but tear it, burn it, do any evil I could to keep Glaucos by my side. But what stayed most in my mind was the look on my grandmother’s face when I’d said that word, pharmaka. It was not a look I know well among the gods.”This girl had gumption and she used her new power to punish her rival, creating a monster all came to feared. But, she paid a price for going too far. Reinventing the life of a minor goddess into a remarkable woman while remaining faithful to the original mythology can be no small feat. Miller did it in the best way possible, by knowing her star character and sticking to her story. From start to finish Circe was all about Circe, no long tangents, no veering off into some other god’s story. Just Circe: her life, her feelings, her mistakes, her heart, her choices. I haven’t yet read Millers’s debut, Song of Achilles, but I will. I’m already looking forward to that next trip to ancient Greece. If it’s anything like Circe, I’m sure to find the journey immersive, entertaining, exciting, everything! Just incase I haven’t been clear, I loved Circe. She will be one of my top ten books this year. Grade: A

Madeline Miller captured both the beauty and bitter futility of being human, and I will be philosophically turning these thoughts over in my head for years to come. Timeless masterpiece that will only become sweeter with each read.

The book is well presented, and helped fill in knowledge gaps left after rushing to get out my first EF app. On a deeper level though, I have to comment that it is frustrating to have the framework experts choose to break up the framework topics into a number of separate and out-of-phase books. e.g. here is a book covering just one class? Could there be afew more chapters covering the best practices in codefirst, etc? Is this the ORM of the Microsoft powerhouse, or of two men in a garage?

A technical book without an index! Really?!? The book is otherwise a good resource. But seriously, no index?!?

I purchased the first EF book based on EF4 and it was good but more confusing when trying to implement EF5 with DbContext. This book was helpful however it would help to have a reference in the back of the book to look up different topics. As far as I can tell it is the only book out there on EF5 and DbContext. I am currently working with EF5 on a project. After I completely implement the website using EF5 I will make a decision if I will ever use another ORM or not. I may go back to rolling my own SQL Stored Procedures, DAL, and BLL as I have done many times in the past which gives me more control and I fully understand the full data mapping. The only benefit to any ORM is time it should save to develop a project. Stored Procedures is the foundation anyway of any ORM plus it protects from injection. I have used other concepts from MS for data access and they were not bad but difficult to work with some times. I was trying to break up my project into layers and found it difficult with EF5 so I started over and put things into one project until I fully understand how to work with it better. I intend to breakup the project into layers later if I discover the need for scale-ability. Trying to implement repository pattern and unit of work is confusing since I have not tried those concepts in the past and also since EF is suppose to be doing that behind the scenes; it seems kind of redundant to implement some type of patterns if EF is already implementing a pattern. I like to use a DAL and a BLL. So EF should take the place of the DAL. I do like the concept of generating from the database plus update from the database. I am not sure any ORM will meet anyone's plug and play needs. The book is written to walk one through the concepts step by step but I tend to jump around technical books looking for instant answers to immediate problems. Mainly because I don't have the time to walk through a text book page by page I have projects to complete. I am not a full time developer so I look for quick answers to problems as I go along. I wish this book would give a fully layered example of using a DAL and BLL to also include a N-tier example with DAL and BLL. I rated this book 4 stars as it did give me some answers but it is the only book out there for EF5 using DbContext. I am using VS 2012 purposely for running EF5 and it is buggy. I spent many days with it crashing on me before I got it stable. I am in with VS 2012 for the long haul as it should get better.

This book is well written and has excellent detail. The main issue is that much of the detail of the book relies on owning or having read the previous book programming_entity_framework_2nd_edition. Together they give very good insight into DbContext and Entity Framework.
