I cannot overrate the helpfulness of this book. Over the past two years, we have become aware of the tenets of Dispensationalism, which was strongly espoused by our church. When we began to study it in the light of the Word of God itself, we were told that we were "going reformed." A helpful friend steered us in the direction of New Covenant Theology, which was what we were finding in our own personal study of just the Word of God alone. We just didn't know it had a name as such. What a blessing this book has been to solidify what we already felt the Spirit was teaching us through the Word alone. It is written in a Christ-like spirit of graciousness, but with great Scriptural clarity. I especially appreciate the author's words in his conclusion: "There are many good and godly believers who hold to Covenant Theology and Dispensationalism. I myself have learned from many of them. As mentioned in the introduction, this is not a 'primary issue' doctrine such as the Trinity, the deity of Christ, or the exclusivity of salvation in Christ, but it is important since it has a bearing on so many issues. Even if you are not fully convinced of New Covenant Theology, I hope and pray that you will strive to keep Christ central in all things." I believe A. Blake White nailed my thoughts with that statement. What unspeakable joy it is to read the Bible with the knowledge that "Christ is all" is truly God's plan!

This book is a very good introduction to New Covenant Theology, but that is certainly all it is: an introduction. It summarizes what New Covenant Theology believes and adds a few verses as to why they believe it, but this is just an introduction. If you're looking for an introduction and a defense, this is not the book for you. But if you're looking for an introduction, if you're wondering what New Covenant Theology is then this is the book for you. It does a great job of laying the bare foundations down and explaining them clearly. For those who just want to know what New Covenant Theology is, I recommend this book.

Things I liked about the book1. Presented the position in a readable & understandable fashion.2. Accurately portraying other positions.3. Christ centric nature of the position.4. This has helped me fill in some holes in my theology.5. The Bibliocentric nature of the position.

Outstanding introduction. Anytime someone goes back to the Bible it always offers an opportuinty for growth. Jere 31, Ezek 36 and the book of Herbews give plenty of food for thought on the New Covenant Theology.

There are many books on new covenant theology but this is a great intro before you dive into the in-depth studies on the topic. I was truly blessed by this book.

Best intro book for NCT. Dr. White is a good writer and is very clear.

Short and concise. Great for our church members who would not take the time to read a big book.

This is our third in the series and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! This volume of Legends of the World find us in Africa, spending time with Jumaani, the farmer who is out to harvest and sell his crops for the year! As he is harvesting, he comes to his yams, which he notes he neglected to tend...he never did weed them this season and they are choked with vines and weeds. Never mind that, he decides, they are a fine color and look like they'll fetch a fine price at market. Just then, the Yam speaks up...what happens from there on is quite interesting and humorous!What I like about this series is that the language is simple and straightforward, even if the point is a bit sometimes ambiguous...and the illustrations are a riot of color, giving the story a rich and vibrant feel! We enjoyed this tale and I would recommend this book without hesitation!Overall, I think this series is a great basic introduction to a wide array of stories from many cultures the world over...a jumping off point also for kids to research more into the culture and mythology of any given place. I'd recommend this for introducing young children to mythology and folklore. The age range cited is 9-12 which is probably the range of kids who would most appreciate and benefit from the story and additional information provided...but even younger kids (say 5-8) will love the stories and vivid, colorful illustrations...the stores aren't so complex or long that they will lose interest in them. I would definitely buy this for my permanent collection and hope to read more from this series soon! I give it a solid A...kids of all ages can enjoy this tale!

If you know RR, pass on this and get the updated RR.If you don’t know RR, Just get the revised RR (latest edition) with an “idiot’s Guide.”This is very easy to read, but will never serve its purpose for someone who wants or needs parliamentary procedure.Without the context, you really need RR. I purchased to refer back to earlier knowledge thinking this could act as a refresher and offer more (modern) examples. What it mostly did was alert me that my 1970+ RR would suffice.If you know RR, you’ll want folks who don’t to read something else.

Great book for nitpickers. Enough here to either grind a meeting to a halt or actually conduct a meeting in a fair manner. Be aware, includes subtle "ad's" to buy the full RRO book because this is "In Brief". (OK, I bought the full book after reading this.) This book is good enough for most occasions and organizations.

I dreaded having to read it--was prepared to be bored to tears BUT I am delighted to say that the clarity of thought, and thorough explanations of why we need each rule are given in simple, clear language.We don't need to be college graduates to lead our Civic Associations and Groups--It's all here in average-citizen language. You've made it possible for any group to do good work--and remain friends!I'm gradually purchasing a copy for each Officer and Board member, having just been given presidency of an potentially dynamic force in our neighborhood.Thank you for the effort, and for using your considerable intelligence to give important information that just about anyone can understand and use--understanding of why it's needed. I can certainly see how these rules came to be in existence as have come up against issues when people tried to figure out on their own how to circumvent. These rules are not made to be broken as they help facilitate smooth and fair meetings.

This is a good reference book for those involved in any political position. I was an elected precinct committeeman and elected serve on the committee. Therefore, our meetings had to revolve around the rules as referenced in the book. This keeps the meetings going smoothly...motions, nominations, elections, votes, debates, amendments, etc. Whether it is a board meeting, committee meeting, or anything else, this is what a majority of people are using.

I've used RONR for years, but have never had my own copy. When I saw that Amazon did not have RONR, which is what I wanted, and instead had "In Brief", I thought I'd give this a try. I'm glad I did. I think this is ideal for anyone who can't stand the thought of using Robert's Rules but needs to, and it's great for those of us who have come to appreciate Robert's Rules but are by no means parliamentarians.The book is short, covering the most important or commonly used rules and scenarios. Every rule includes reference to further, complete explanations in RONR. What I like most is that it is written with the intention of being complete on its own, so it has a more succinct, direct style than RONR (where I have to admit I often wonder "What exactly are they saying here?"). I appreciate that level of clarity.That clarity also means that it's much easier to take to a meeting and help members grasp a rule, whereas RONR is too complex for that. That said, the author is adamant that "In Brief" doesn't replace or supersede RONR, and cannot be followed as the rules of an organization, but as long as we remember that, it really is a more handy guide when a person needs the basics for themselves or others.

The Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised In Brief is a great addition to help me understand and better explain Robert's Rules of Order to my group during our meetings. RONR is a thick book in itself with A LOT of information that can sometimes be difficult to understand. The In Brief edition is very easy and written in a manner that is easily understood. My group has to follow parliamentarian procedures and we often refer to RONR in order to explain what is going on during our meetings and how we should operate. I really appreciate this version.

This book was written to be a companion to the Steven Spielberg Film, Lincoln, currently in theaters. It focuses on the sixteenth president's tumultuous final months in office. Ending slavery was his primary focus. Even if you are not able to go see the movie, you have an abundance of historical detail right in this book.Be advised this is not a comprehensive biography of President Lincoln. It puts a microscope on his struggle to weigh his personal beliefs against presidential duties concerning the slavery issue. The Emancipation Proclamation issued two years earlier only authorized Union soldiers to liberate slaves in the south. A Constitutional amendment was needed to legally end slavery forever in the United States. The book tells us about America during those tumultuous times, Congress, and the people who fought or helped Lincoln.Although intended for young adult readers, the book is well suited for adults as well. Photographs spanning Lincoln's life, speeches, a chronology, and cast of characters are included. Another nice perk is the large type size.Here is an interesting aside. When Steven Spielberg, director of the movie, interviewed historical scholars prior to writing the screenplay, he took notes using an inkwell and fountain pens in order to place himself into that historical period. I watched the movie, "Lincoln" and this book fills in the gaps from the movie. It is a really interesting read, and I really enjoyed the insights you get from the movie and book! Everyone should read this to understand why Lincoln is considered the best President ever.

Love Lincoln stories wherever they are written. This is digging in to the facts of the end of slavery. It is written for a middle school child. I will offer it to one i know when they are old enough.

I thought I knew a lot about Lincoln, but I learned so much more from this book. I wish I had it before seeing the movie.The book and the movie put emphasis on the 13th Amendment with the Emancipation Proclamation a document proclaiming what needed to happen; not an instrument that would end slavery.

I bought this book for my daughter she really likes it. It is an easy read.Came in a week. Highly recomended.

Barry A. Rubin, MA in Communications from Ohio University, is rabbi of Emmanuel Messianic Jewish Congregation in Clarksville, Maryland. Founded in 1915, it is the oldest extant Messianic congregation in the world. Everyone loves their Complete Jewish Bible! Now, with the Complete Jewish Study Bible, I am absolutely ecstatic to own and use this great work! I splurged and purchased the genuine calfskin edition and I am so happy I did! It is exquisite in construction and quality. I envision years of daily use because no expense was spared in the design and construction of this Bible. Further, the layout is highly logical and useable. This Bible opens up the Jewishness of our history, especially in a Scriptural and Hebrew Worldview perspective. This is so terribly important because without accurate Hebrew worldview, culture, language, and lands knowledge one cannot really understand what is being said or instructed. As a pastor, it is my responsibility to accurately present not only the Word, but what the Word really means! This Study Bible truly provides an extraordinary resource for not only pastors, but for every person who reveres and wants to better understand God's Word.
